Powers and Abilities

Powers

  • Amphibious Nature: As an Atlantean, Aquaman can breathe both water and air, but must return to the aquatic environment at various intervals; this length can be prolonged by the humidity in the atmosphere.
  • Superhuman Strength: Aquaman possesses a strength level several times greater than that of a normal human, though the exact limits of which remain unknown. His upper strength levels are required in order for him to function and survive in deep ocean depths.
  • Superhuman Endurance: Aquaman possesses strength and stamina that allows him to swim for prolonged periods of time without significant breaks for rest or recuperation.
  • Superhuman Durability: Aquaman's enhanced physiology enables him to withstand impacts that would kill and ordinary human, and critically injure an average Atlantean.

Abilities

Master Swimmer: Aquaman is an excellent swimmer

Paraphernalia

Equipment: A seahorse shaped-medallion left to him as a child by his mother.
Transportation: Owns a boat called The Quint.
Weapons: None known.

Notes

  • The role of Aquaman has been played by two actors. Alan Ritchson played Aquaman in his introductory appearance in "Aqua". In 2006, a proposed spin-off series with the working title Mercy Reef was created, but only one unaired pilot was ever filmed. In the Mercy Reef pilot, actor Justin Hartley played the role of Aquaman. Though this was Hartley's only appearance as Aquaman, he did make frequent appearances on Smallville in the role of Oliver Queen, aka, Green Arrow. Hartley's Green Arrow formed a strike force comprised of several super-powered agents including Aquaman (played again by Ritchson). Ritchson's second appearance as Aquaman was in the episode "Justice". Ironically, Ritchson also provided the voice for Aquaman in the 2008 direct-to-video animated feature Justice League: The New Frontier. However, this movie is not considered part of Smallville or Mercy Reef continuity.
  • Aquaman's Atlantean birth name, Orin, was revealed by a character named McCaffery in the Mercy Reef pilot.

Trivia

  • Aquaman's boat, The Quint, is named after the character played by Robert Shaw in the 1976 Steven Spielberg film Jaws.
