Martha Wayne (Earth-Two)

History:

While walking home from a movie theater with their young son Bruce, Martha and her husband Thomas were accosted by a robber named Joe Chill. Attempting to robbing Martha of her jewelry, Thomas Wayne tried to disarm the attacker. The mugger shot and killed Thomas. Martha was so distraught she had a heart attack and died soon after the murder of her husband (Some retellings of the Batman stories contended that Chill also killed Martha directly). Now orphaned, their son Bruce made a graveside promise to avenge their deaths. To this end, he dedicated his life towards stopping crime. As an adult, Wayne would get his long standing revenge on Chill after learning it was Chill who murdered his parents (Batman (Vol 1) 47). Wayne would eventually overcome his longing for a new family when he took in Grayson and later married Salina Kyle and had his own daughter.

Notes:
The Earth-Two version of Thomas and Martha Wayne had a close history with their later Earth-One counterparts, though with obvious and specific differences such as Chill was specifically identified as their killer and the Earth-Two Waynes only had one son.
