History

Also known as Mohole 1, this was the name of a scientific research station located in the frozen tundra wastes of the arctic. Research assistant Crystal Frost had been working at the station, when an accident trapped her inside of a thermafrost unit. The extreme temperatures altered Crystal’s molecular structure, transforming her into the super-villain known as Killer Frost. Nursing a hatred for all men, Frost began viciously attacking the rest of the Mohole team, using her ice-generation powers to freeze them to the point of death. Physicist Martin Stein transformed into Firestorm and secured Frost inside of the containment chamber. As Killer Frost required heat in order to maintain her powers, the sub-zero temperatures actually succeeded in weakening her powers until such time that she was properly incarcerated.
