Powers and Abilities

Powers

All of Medphyll's powers are derived from his equipment and weaponry.

Abilities

Medphyll (New Earth)'s bravery and indomitable willpower proved valuable on many missions, and is the primary reason why he was selected to serve in the Green Lantern Corps.

Weaknesses

In order to prevent members of the Green Lantern Corps from becoming all-powerful, the Guardians of the Universe programmed each power ring with a necessary impurity, which renders them ineffective against anything colored yellow. This yellow impurity is in fact an aspect of the living entity of fear known as Parallax.

Due to his plantlike nature, Medphyll (New Earth) was extremely vulnerable to cold weather. Fortunately, his Green Lantern Ring and Darkstar Exo-Mantle protected him from extreme variances in temperature.

Paraphernalia

Equipment:

  • Green Lantern Power Battery: As a Green Lantern, Medphyll (New Earth) was provided with a Power Battery through which he could recharge his Green Lantern ring. The ring needed to be charged at least once every twenty-four hours (or the relevant equivalent to one solar day depending upon whichever star system he was located in at the time).
  • Darkstar Exo-Mantle: During his time as a member of the Darkstars, Medphyll (New Earth) wore a specially designed battle suit, which provided him with the ability to fly, as well as operate in unfavorable environments. The Exo-Mantle was also equipped with maser technology, which allowed Medphyll (New Earth) to generate blasts of electromagnetic force.

Transportation:

  • Self-powered flight via Green Lantern Ring or Darkstar Exo-Mantle.

Weapons:

  • Green Lantern Ring: Every Green Lantern is provided with a ring, which channels the cosmic “green” energy of the Central Power Battery of Oa. This ring enabled Medphyll (New Earth) to fly, project energy in the form of either waves or blasts, as well as the creation of three-dimensional constructs, which responded to his commands. The complexity of the constructs were limited only by Medphyll (New Earth)’s willpower and imagination.

Oath

"In forest dark or glade beferned, no blade of grass shall go unturned. Let those who have the daylight spurned, tread not where this green lamp has burned."

Notes

  • No special notes.

Trivia

  • Medphyll's predecessor on J586 was named Jothra.
  • Medphyll made a cameo appearance on the two-part Justice League episode, "In Blackest Night". In Part II of the episode, he and several other Green Lantern engaged in a bar room brawl with Hawkgirl.
