History

Charis-Nar was born on the planet Changralyn. As a youth, he set himself apart from other children, due in large part to his inquisitive nature and his difficulty with accepting religious scripture at face value. The natives of Changralyn held to a long-accepted decree of pacifism, one that originated with a great calamity from ages past, the responsibility of which, they took upon themselves. Charis-Nar questioned the recorded history of his people and wondered if the Changralynians were truly to blame. Throughout his entire education, his instructors insisted that he should cease questioning holy scripture and simply believe. Upon graduation, the elders painted upon his brow his personal symbol of passivity. They sent him forth to find a mate, one who bears the same markings. Charis-Nar found Kattayan-Besh and the two were wed. As per Changralynian culture, the two were expected to bear children and build great temples in honor of peace. Charis-Nar's temple however, was not built as a symbol of passivity, but as a symbol of his love for his wife.

At the time that Charis-Nar and Kattayan-Besh bore their son, the alien conquerors known as the Citadel established a treaty with Changralyn. In exchange for protection, the natives of Changralyn agreed to offer the Citadel a percentage of their newborns. They erringly believed that their children were being take to a world of paradise, but in truth, the Citadel were raising the Changralynian children as slaves. Charis-Nar suspected that the treaty with the Citadel was less than he was led to believe and refused to give up his child. The Citadel's slave lords, the Gordanians, tried to wrest the child from his grasp, but Charis-Nar, in direct defiance of the edicts of his people, fought back. During the struggle, a blast from a Gordanian weapon was fired, killing his newly hatched son. To replace the deceased hatchling, the Gordians instead took Charis-Nar's wife.

Charis-Nar became a pariah to his people and was forced into exile. He removed the mark of passivity from his brow and forsook his birth name. He took to referring to himself as Broot. Before long, Broot encountered several others who courageously fought against the oppressive regime of the Citadel. These beings were the Omega Men. Broot joined their ranks and spent several years fighting the Citadel and the Gordanian underlings at every turn.

During the "Citadel War", the Omega Men returned to Changralyn in the hopes of recruiting Broot's people as warriors. Broot tried to convince them that such a goal was fruitless, as the Changralynians would refuse to fight - even in self defense. Once again, Broot found himself defying the doctrines of his people as he took the life of several Gordanians who had come to the planet. In retaliation, the Gordanians fired a nuke-bomb that leveled the population center known as Sharll. Unable to recruit the people of Changralyn, the Omega Men, including Broot, were forced to leave. Powers and Abilities

Powers

  • Superhuman Strength: Broot's strength level is several times that of a normal Earth human, and he is even stronger than most other alien races including those of his home world Changralyn.

Abilities

  • Martial Combatant: Although not an expert in the art of fighting, Broot can more than hold his own in hand-to-hand combat - a trait uncharacteristic of those raised under the pacifist teachings of Changralyn. Broot's fighting prowess in combination with his immense size and strength make him one of the deadliest members of the Omega Men.
