History
It was offered to Superman by Darkseid, but he refused to use it. John Henry Irons ended up donning the armor. He became more and more dependent on it and was summoned to Apokolips. Superman, Irons' niece Natasha and others were able to free him from the armor, but John suffered permanent damage.
The armor draws power from entropy.
